Three Powerful Tools.
One Proven RE Engine.

What Makes DezignWorks
the RE Standard for SolidWorks & Inventor
The Feature Wizard:
From Raw Scan to Parametric CAD — Automatically
Let AI Do the Heavy
Lifting on RE Features
DezignWorks' proprietary Feature Wizard uses AI-driven algorithms to analyze imported mesh or probe data and automatically identify and extract parametric features — no manual measurement required. The wizard presents proposed features for your review, and you accept, modify, or reject each one before it goes into the feature tree. The result is a fully parametric SolidWorks or Inventor model built from scan data, in a fraction of the time manual reverse engineering would require.

Common Questions About
DezignWorks RE Software
Which DezignWorks product is right for my FARO arm?
It depends on whether your FARO arm has a laser scanner head. If your arm has an integrated laser scanner (a "ScanArm"), choose DezignWorks Unlimited — it supports both probing and scanning from the same arm. If your arm is probe-only (no scanner), choose DezignWorks Probing. If you have a separate handheld 3D scanner, choose DezignWorks Mesh Modeler.
Is DezignWorks available for both SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor?
Yes — DezignWorks is available in separate versions for SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor. All three product lines (Mesh Modeler, Probing, Unlimited) are available for both platforms. Each version installs as a native add-in within your existing CAD environment. Pricing varies slightly by platform — see the comparison table above for exact pricing.
What is the AI-assisted Feature Wizard and how does it work?
The DezignWorks Feature Wizard uses AI-driven geometry analysis to scan your imported mesh or probe data and automatically propose parametric features — planes, extrusions, revolves, cylinders, and more. You review each suggestion in a guided workflow, accept or modify dimensions, and the feature is added to the SolidWorks or Inventor feature tree.
What is the Samson 3D engine and why does it matter?
The Samson 3D engine is a proprietary 3D processing technology exclusive to DezignWorks. It enables the software to import and process very large polygonal mesh files (STL/OBJ) inside SolidWorks or Inventor without degrading CAD performance. Other RE plug-ins struggle with large scan datasets — the Samson engine is specifically engineered to handle the file sizes produced by modern 3D scanners.
Is a free trial available?
Yes — DezignWorks offers a free trial. Request your trial through the form on this page or call Rev1 Technologies at (248) 707-2950. Our team will coordinate the trial license directly with DezignWorks / Creative Dezign Concepts and get you set up within 1 business day.
What's the difference between a subscription and a perpetual license?
A 1-year subscription is renewed annually and includes 4 hours of web-based training, all software updates released during the year, and technical support. A perpetual license is a one-time purchase — you own the license indefinitely, but it does not include training, updates, or support (these can be added separately).
